发明名称 Drilling machine with automatic tool changer
摘要 1,064,752. Tool-changing. GIDDINGS & LEWIS MACHINE TOOL CO. Aug. 14, 1963 [Aug. 27, 1962; Sept. 19, 1962], No. 32195/63. Headings B3B and B3C. A tool storage magazine (30 pr 32, Fig. 2, not shown) for a manually-, or tape-, controlled machine tool comprises supports each having a pair of elements 72 horizontally spaced to define an opening into which a milling or drilling tool may be inserted and retained. Screw-operated work slides 22, 20, Fig. 1 (not shown), a headstock slide 14 and a rack-driven quill 26, Fig. 10 (not shown), carrying a spindle 16 are controlled by a tape. The two magazines 30, 32 are power-rotated under manual or automatic control to select a tool, the approach to a final position being at a slow speed. Mounted on the headstock above each magazine is a shuttle 110, 112 so that a new tool can be supplied to the spindle by one shuttle while the previous tool is removed by the other shuttle. However, successive tools may be taken from the same magazine. Each magazine is fabricated from plates 44, 50, Fig. 4 (not shown), and is rotated by a hydraulic motor 62 driving through gearing 60 and an electric clutch 64, the position of the magazine being indicated by a selsyn 68. Each tool has a flange 73, a taper 79, a V- shaped collar 76 for engagement by radiallymovable jaws 78-1 to 78-4, Fig. 10 (not shown), of a chuck mounted on the spindle, and driving teeth 86 engaging teeth 88 on the spindle. The jaws 78 are operated by an air-actuated sleeve 202 bevelled at its lower end. Each tool is retained in the magazine by a latch 98<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5A (not shown), entering a recess 90 in the flange 73. It is released by a cam 108 on the shuttle which presses down a rod 102 to move the latch against a spring 104. In the initial movement of each shuttle such as 110, Fig. 2, rollers 114-1, 114-2 etc. on the associated magazine engage tapered surfaces 118<SP>11</SP>, 120<SP>11</SP> on the shuttle frame so locating a tool in the exact position required. Each shuttle is moved by an hydraulic piston acting through rack-andpinion gearing. The shuttle picks up the tool by means of two pairs of spring arms, each pair such as 154-1, 154-2, Fig. 7A (not shown), being able to yield outwardly to receive a tool flange when the tool is engaged laterally. The lower arms are bevelled to allow a tool flange to enter from below as it is moved axially upwards by the spindle prior to removal, and cams 216, Fig. 7B (not shown), operated by airactuated pistons 212, are provided to spread the arms to allow a tool to be moved downwardly out of the shuttle as a tool commences a feed movement. The arms remain around the spindle until the tool is returned to them. In setting up the machine, a lever 228, Fig. 4 (not shown), is used to release tools from the magazine 30.
