<p>Compounds of formula <FORM:1066266/C2/1> where X is alkylene of 2-4 C, R1 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1-3 C, and R2 is alkyl of 1-3 C, and therapeutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by (1) splitting off hydrogenolytically a protective group R3 from an -X-NR2R3 compound, (2) reacting a reactive ester of an -XOH compound with a monoalkylamine or (3) desalkylating a corresponding di-(lower alkyl)-amino compound. Diazepine derivatives also prepared are: 10 - (b - methylamino - ethyl) - 1,2,3,4,10,11,eoctahydro - 11 - oxo - 5H - dibenzo[b, e][1,4]diazepine; 5 - methyl - 10 - b - hydroxyethyl - 10,11 - dihydro - 11 - oxo - 5H - dibenzo[b, e][1,4]diazepine and the corresponding 10-b chloroethyl compound and the 10-g -chloropropyl compound. Pharmaceutical compositions are described containing the compounds of the invention with carriers (e.g. for oral or parenteral administration), being useful as antidepressives.</p> |
