A firelighter comprises a solid emulsion of a liquid hydrocarbon encapsulated in a polymerised aqueous resin matrix, in which the liquid hydrocarbon is partially replaced with an inert material in granular form the granular material comprising particles of the mineral dispersed in a binder. The inert material is selected from talc, china clay, bentonite, fly-ash, lime and/or ground marble and the concentration of hydrocarbon as fuel is from 30 to 75% by weight, the concentration of the granular material up to 60% by weight and the concentration of the resin matrix is from 10 to 30% by weight. |
