The disproportionation of C 7-20 olefins is effected in the presence of silica promoted with tungsten oxide or molybdenum oxide. The catalyst may be activated by treatment with CO or H 2 , and may contain MgO. Examples describe the disproportionation of heptene-3 an equilibrium mixture of heptenes-1, 2 and 3, and a mixture of C 7-18 olefins containing predominantly C 10-12 n-olefins. |
