<p>A cyclonic separator for a vacuum cleaner that comprises a cyclone stage (3, fig 1), a chamber 4 and a silencer 31. The chamber 4 comprises a plurality of ports 30 through which fluid discharged from the cyclone stage (3, fig 1) enters the chamber 4. The silencer 31 is located in the chamber 4 and comprises a plurality of baffles (34, fig 5). Fluid entering the chamber 4 through one of the ports 30 collides with a first side of one of the baffles (34, fig 5) and fluid entering the chamber through another of the ports 30 collides with a second opposite side of the one of the baffles (34, fig 5). The baffles (34, fig 5) thus act to reduce fluid from the two ports 30 colliding with one another and as a result reduce noise and a quieter cyclonic separator may be achieved.</p> |
