A thermal store apparatus 2 comprising a thermal storage tank 4, arranged in use to be filled with water, and arranged to be connected to a low or variable heat energy source 6. A water circulation system circulates water from a lower region of the tank through an outlet line 8, through the heat source to transfer heat to the water. The heated water is returned to an upper region of the tank through an inlet line 10. The lower region of the tank is preferably the upper 25% and the lower region the lower 25%. The thermal storage tank comprises a heat transfer conduit 18 extending there-through, connected at either end to a cold water inlet 16 and a domestic hot water outlet 17. The domestic hot water supply may lead to a hot water storage tank 20. |
