摘要 Hypoxanthine is prepared by culturing a micro-organism in a medium containing: (1) a vitamin selected from pantothenic acid, compounds involved in Coenzyme A synthesis or their derivatives and (2) thiamine or a compound involved in its biosynthesis, or a derivative thereof. The compound (1) may be pantothenic acid itself or a pantothenate, b -alanine, pantethine, pantoic acid, aspartic acid, valine, dimethylpyruvic acid, a -ketopantoic acid, pantothenyl cysteine, D(+)-4-phosphopantethine, diphosphocoenzyme A, Coenzyme A, carnosine, anserine or natural substances containing these compounds, e.g. yeast extract, corn steep liquor, fish solubles, meat extract, rice bran, molasses, liver extract, peptone, NZ amine or distillers solubles. The thiamine may be replaced by a mixture of appropriate pyrimidines and thiazoles, e.g. 2-methyl-4-amino-5-hydroxymethyl-pyrimidine and 4-methyl-5-b -hydroxyethylthiazole or some of the above natural substances.
