<p>A resinous mixture comprises (1) an aromatic polycarbonate resin and (2) a polyarylene ether composed of at least 10 repeating structural units of formula <FORM:1026148/C3/1> where A is an aromatic radical. Preferably, the mixture contains 5 to 98 parts of polycarbonate to 95 to 2 parts of polyarylene ether. Many specific resins of both types are mentioned. Mixing may be effected either in the solid phase (possibly followed by melt fusion) or in solution in an organic solvent (e.g. chloroform) followed by co-precipitation with a non-solvent. Lubricants, antioxidants, colourants or fillers (e.g. wood flour, diatomaceous earth, silica or carbon black) may be added. Examples describe compositions of the polycarbonate of bisphenol A and poly - (2,6 - dimethyl - 1,4 - phenylene) ether. Uses.-Films, fibres, moulding powders, surface coverings, wire enamels and adhesives.</p> |
