Device client providing partitioned operating environment for Internet-accessible applications

Methods and systems for allowing device clients to be installed, modified, controlled, operated and updated from a remote centralized computer within the Internet cloud in a secure manner. The device client software residing on the device is minimalistic and allows the device to run local and remote applications that can be downloaded from application stores on remote servers. Each device client may allow more than one application to run within its environment and may serve to partition the device such that applications running under the device client are separated from other applications. Data transmission associated with the partitions may also be partitioned through use of different tunnels for different data services. More than one device client may be installed on a device.
