1,075,968. Making draw string bags. J. F. M. BONNABAUD and C. BRAT. Nov. 25, 1964 [Dec. 16, 1963], No. 47852/64. Heading B5D. [Also in Division B8] Two strings 22, 23 (Fig. 2, not shown) fed from pairs of spools 15, 16 and 19, 21 (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, not shown) are laid against each of the side walls of a bag and covered by strips of material 27, 26 which are welded to the bag about the strings so that a draw string bag is formed. The ends of the string are bound together by gluing or welding. The strips of material 26, 27 may either be formed from separate material or by making cuts (31, 32, 33 and 34, Fig. 3, not shown) in the top of the bag, folding over the top portions and welding them to the bag walls at 36 and if required at 37. In another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) one edge of a length of tubing 39 is severed at 44 and openings 47 punched in the tubing for the strings. The tubing is then slit at 49 and welded around the slit, the slit being positioned so that when the top of the bag is folded over the strings 53 the apertures 47 overlie the slits 49. The folded portion is then welded to the bag at 55 after which the bag is cut and sealed transversely. If required these processes may be carried out at each longitudinal edge of the tubing and the tubing then severed and sealed longitudinally to form bags. |
