The power factor correction circuit of the present invention comprises: a main switch for controlling the phase difference between voltage and current of input power; a main inductor storing or releasing energy according to the switching of the main switch; a snubber circuit including a snubber switch for forming a transmission path of excess power that occurs prior to the on operation of the main switch and a snubber inductor for controlling the amount of current applied to the snubber switch; and a reduction circuit for reducing excessive power applied to the snubber switch by varying the inductance of the snubber inductor.
