The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating leakage of carbon dioxide which is installed on a transfer line provided as a pipe that is continuously connected from carbon dioxide generation equipment to a carbon dioxide storage place to treat leakage of carbon dioxide and a method for the leakage of carbon dioxide. The apparatus for treating leakage of carbon dioxide includes a box-shaped shield case installed on a connection part of the pipe constituting the transfer line to shield the outside of the connection part, thereby preventing the carbon dioxide leaking from the connection part from being diffused; and a bypasser for bypassing the carbon dioxide leaking into the inside of the shield case to the outside of the shield case to store the carbon dioxide. According to the present invention, since the carbon dioxide leaking through the connection part of the transfer line is bypassed to the outside of the shield case by the bypasser in the state where the diffusion of the carbon dioxide is prevented by the shield case and then is stored, the diffusion of the carbon dioxide in the leaking area may be prevented.
