Provided is an apparatus for providing a searching result according to the type of an auto-complete word. A searching device includes an auto-complete word extracting unit which extracts a plurality of auto-complete words from metadata, a type matching unit which extracts each type of the auto-complete words from the metadata and matches the type with each extracted auto-complete word, a search word input unit which receives a search word through a user interface, and a display unit which displays the auto-complete word corresponding to the received search word. The display unit further displays additional information based on the type matched with the displayed auto-complete word.
