<p>Wrappers of smoking articles having slit banded regions 30 exhibit both low ignition propensity and reduced rates of self-extinguishment under free burn conditions. The slit banded regions comprises first 31, second 32 and third 33 zones, with the second zone having greater permeability that the first and third zones, which comprise add-on material, the first second and third zones being of substantially the same width as each other. A method of making the wrapper as is also disclosed, as are smoking articles including the wrappers.</p> |
