593362 Disclosed is a modular motion camera (110). The modular motion camera (110) is comprised of a sensor module (112), a power module (124) and a recording module (120). The sensor module (112) has a surface which includes a first interface (138). The sensor module (112) includes an image sensor having a horizontal resolution of 2000 or more pixels. The sensor module (112) is configured to convert light received by the image sensor into digital motion picture image data at a rate of at least 23 frames per second. The power module (124) is comprised of a housing including a first surface having a second interface (142) and a second surface having a third interface (144). The power module (124) also has a bus segment, extending from the second interface (142) to the third interface (144), which includes a power bus configured to transmit power through the power module (124), and a data bus. The data bus is configured to transmit the motion picture image data having a horizontal resolution of 2000 or more pixels through the power module (124) at a frame rate of at least 23 frames per second. The recording module (120) has a housing including a first surface having a fourth interface (142) and a second surface having a fifth interface (144). The first interface (138) is functionally engageable with any of the second and fourth interfaces (142); the third interface (144) is functionally engageable with the fourth interface (142); and the second interface (142) is functionally engageable with the fifth interface (144). The power module (124) is configured to communicate, via the bus segment extending from the second interface (142) to the third interface (144), the motion picture image data having a horizontal resolution of 2000 or more pixels. The communicated motion picture image data is thereby recorded into the recording module (120) at a frame rate of at least 23 frames per second. Thus the modules may be arranged in a variety of ways using the coupling interfaces (142 and 144). Additional modules such as adapter modules (128) and I/O modules (126) may also be provided. |
