A fragrance composition is provided to reproduce a fragrance of rosa rugosa thunb. var. rugosa by containing a dimethyl octanol and a dimethyl octanyl acetate as a principal component of rosa rugosa thunb. var. rugosa such as geraniol, Nerol, cis-3-hexenyl acetate, citronellol and Phenethyl alcohol, to improve taste of the fragrance and to be used as a composition for skin external application. A fragrance composition reproducing the fragrance of rosa rugosa thunb. var. rugosa comprises a fragrance component of the rosa rugosa thunb. var. rugosa, a dimethyl octanol and a dimethyl octanyl acetate as an active ingredient. The fragrance component of the rosa rugosa thunb. var. rugosa is geraniol, Nerol, cis-3-hexenyl acetate, Citronellol and Phenethyl alcohol and additionally 3-Methyl-3-butenol, prenol, citral, Benzyl alcohol, geranyl acetate, citronellyl acetate, Cyclohexyl isothiocyanate, cis-3-Hexenol, 3-Methyl-3-butenal and neryl acetate. |
