The device (D) has an outer band (CB), and a displacement unit (MP) that is arranged with a pawl-type non-return mechanism (MA). The non-return mechanism is secured to the outer band and is adapted to place a rotating cover (CP) of a grand piano such as full-grand piano, in an upright position and in a folded position. The displacement unit is arranged as a telescopic type displacement unit so as to present different lengths that is respectively adapted to the upright position and the folded position. An independent claim is also included for a grand piano.
