The system (10) has a detecting unit (11) for detecting a negative power according to the position of an acceleration pedal (4) cooperating with an electric machine i.e. three-phase synchronous machine (1), where a control unit (12) control the synchronous machine. The control unit includes a regulating unit (14) for regulating a charging current delivered to a battery (2) by the synchronous machine, where the regulating unit is capable of degrading the electrical efficiency of the synchronous machine according to the permissible power level of the battery.
