The device (2) has a mounting portion (3) intended to be mounted on an upper end portion (4) of a noise barrier wall (5), where the mounting portion extends in a longitudinal direction of the noise barrier wall. A resonance cavity (11) of variable thickness is provided, where apertures open into the resonant cavity. The apertures are arranged for connecting the resonance cavity with the exterior of the acoustic attenuation device, where the thickness of the resonance cavity varies transversely relative to the direction of extension of the acoustic attenuation device.
