The device (14) has a body (16), and positioning and fixation units e.g. nipples or studs (18, 20), arranged on the body for positioning and fixing the device on a case (2). Sensors are adapted to cooperate with a door (4) and indicate its height. The body is flat in structure and provided with two main and opposite faces, the positioning and fixation units are set on one of the faces, and the sensors are set on the other face. A permanent magnet (24) is adapted to maintain the device against the case. The sensors include a finger extending from the body and movable relative to the body. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling height of a door on a case of a car.
