The press has a lower tool (1) comprising lower cutting blades (2) spaced from each other according to a moving direction of a sheet strip (3). A movable upper tool includes upper cutting blades engaging with the lower cutting blades for cutting a blank in the sheet strip. A lift (4) is placed between the lower cutting blades of the tool. The lift moves between a bottom position in which the lift is located under a plane of cutting edges of the lower cutting blades and a top position in which the lift is located in the plane to support the sheet strip.
