PURPOSE: An abnormal condition detecting apparatus for a wind power generator and a method thereof are provided to easily detect abnormal conditions by measuring the speed of a wind power generator when periodic torque ripples exist due to an abnormal rotation system of the wind power generator. CONSTITUTION: An abnormal condition detecting apparatus for a wind power generator comprises a sampling unit (300), a frequency converting unit (310), and an analyzing unit (320). The sampling unit samples the speed of a wind power generator. The frequency converting unit converts the sampled value into a frequency band. The analyzing unit calculates a value in the frequency band, which corresponds to the integer multiple of an operating frequency of the wind power generator of the converted value into a frequency band.
