PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for alleviating a burden on a user performing resetting of a parameter necessary for inspection when a part of an inspection object inspected by an appearance inspection device is changed.SOLUTION: An appearance inspection device displays a setting guidance screen (e.g., figure 53 and figure 54) for guiding a user to reset a parameter related to a partial change of an inspection object from among a plurality of parameters set in advance. The user inputs the partial change of the inspection object and operates tabs and buttons on the setting guidance screen, so as to be guided to a setting screen of a parameter that is required to be reset.
