This optical element is provided with a microlens array section, and a reflecting section. The microlens array section has a plurality of microlenses aligned therein. The reflecting section is disposed to face the microlens array section. Light that has passed through the microlens array section is reflected by means of the reflecting section, then, collected to the microlenses other than the microlenses to which the light was inputted.
