摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save power consumption for focus adjustment upon continuous shooting.SOLUTION: An imaging device comprises: an image pickup element that is composed of a plurality of first pixel arrays having a plurality of imaging pixels and a plurality of focus detection pixels two-dimensionally arranged and including a focus detection pixel array having the plurality of focus detection pixels arranged in a predetermined direction and a plurality of second pixel arrays not including the focus detection pixel array and having the image pickup element arranged in the predetermined direction; read-out control means that upon continuous shooting, causes a first read-out method for causing a focus detection signal to be output from the focus detection pixel of the first pixel array of at least a part of the plurality of first pixel arrays and a second read-out method for causing an image signal and the focus detection signal to be output from the image pickup element and the focus detection pixel of the plurality of first and second pixel arrays to be performed in a time division; first focus detection means that detects a focus adjustment state using the focus detection signals output by the first read-out method and the second read-out method; and generation means that generates image data using the image signal output by the second read-out method.
