PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate sensor that can consecutively detect the concentration of PM momentarily changing and continue accurate measurement for a long period of time without being adversely influenced by deposition of the PM.SOLUTION: The particulate sensor comprises: a pair of cylindrically shaped electrodes 3, 4 inserted in the middle of the exhaust pipe 1 so as to cross the flow of the exhaust gas 2 and oppositely arranged in parallel to each other so as not to be along the flow direction of the exhaust gas 2; pulse high voltage generation means 11 applying square wave high AC voltage so as to generate a partial discharge between the electrodes 3, 4 while using one of the electrodes 3, 4 as a high voltage electrode and the other as a ground electrode; a capacitor 10 provided in the middle of an electrical circuit for applying AC high voltage between the electrodes 3, 4 by the pulse high voltage generation means 11; a voltage measurement device 12 (voltage measurement means) measuring a terminal voltage of the capacitor 10; and a control apparatus 13 (calculation means) converting the voltage value measured by the voltage measurement device 12 to PM concentration. |
