The present invention relates to a surface cladding system and a method if 5 installing a surface cladding system. The surface cladding system includes overlapping upper and lower profiled roof sheets comprising ribs spaced -apart by a pan or trough section, and a sealing device including an elongate body section having upper and lower surfaces and sides which extend between the upper and lower surfaces. An upstanding formation provides a recessed part of 10 the lower surface and a raised part of the upper surface. The recessed part of the lower surface defines a recess receiving a rib of the lower roof sheet and the upstanding formation being received within a groove of a rib of the upper roof sheet.
