PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of a retrieval precision of an ambiguous retrieval caused by the fluctuation of a word notation and a word order widely allowed depending on a language to be used.SOLUTION: In a parallel translation type database 11, a text in a first language, which is a retrieval object, is made to correspond to a translation sentence about the text in a second language and stored. A machine translation unit 12 mechanically translates an input query sentence in the first language into the second language. An ambiguous retrieval unit 14 performs an ambiguous retrieval by using the query sentence translated into the second language as a retrieval key with respect to the translation sentence stored in the parallel translation type database 11. Then, the ambiguous retrieval unit 14 extracts the text in the first language which is made to correspond to the translation sentence as the result of the ambiguous retrieval from the parallel translation type database 11, and outputs it. |
