The brake pressure control apparatus has a hydraulic path provided between a manually actuatable master brake cylinder (9) and a wheel brake unit (14). A control piston (4) is arranged in the hydraulic path for controlling brake pressure in a housing portion (17). An actuator is set for actuating the control piston. The control piston is arranged in the hydraulic path such that hydraulic connection between the master brake cylinder and the wheel brake unit is released in a basic position of the control piston.
