PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-luminance phosphor which is excited by ultraviolet to emit light.SOLUTION: The invention is a phosphor which is represented by the general formula, MSiN:Eu, where M is one or more alkali earth metal elements selected from Ca, Sr and Ba, x and y are 0.5≤x≤1.5, 6.5≤y≤7.5), and is excited by ultraviolet to emit light and contains a production phase mainly consisting of a phase having a relative intensity of a diffraction peak of 410% to 650%, when 2&thetas; is in a range of 30.6° to 31.2°, the diffraction peak of 90% to 160% when 2&thetas; is in the range of 55.8° to 56.4°, and the diffraction peak of 60% to 105% when 2&thetas; is in the range of 66.1° to 66.7° in the case that the diffraction peak is set at 100% when 2&thetas; is in the range of 29.3° to 29.9°in an X-ray diffraction pattern by CuKα ray. |
