1,085,088. Toothed gearing. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 2, 1966 [Aug. 10, 1965], No. 34223/65. Heading F2Q. In epicyclic gearing comprising a double helical sun gear 1, on a driving shaft 2, meshing double helical planet gears 3, on a carrier 5 secured to a driven shaft 6, a double helical toothde annulus is in two parts 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> which are resiliently mounted with respect to a housing and have facing planar faces between which a hydrostatic oil film is formed. The ring gears 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> are supported by C-shaped springs 9 located in opposed grooves 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> formed in the gears and housing. Lubricant is supplied through a pipe 18 to one side of the gear part 4<SP>1</SP> and through axial passages 20 to the facing planar surfaces. Lubricant may also be supplied to the outer surface of the gear part 4<SP>1</SP>1. The gear parts may be forced apart by springs located in axially aligned holes in the facing planar surfaces. Alternatively, the planar surfaces may be coated with polytetrafluoroethylene. |
