The present invention relates to a moment weight-type weight training apparatus, and a weight training method using the same. The weight training apparatus comprises: a supporting frame; a rocking body installed on the supporting frame and rocking and moving along a sleeve portion; a wire connected to the rocking body, rocking the rocking body, and pulled by an exercising person; a weight coupled to freely pivot on the rocking body, and moving vertically to change moment weight; a guide bar guiding the weight; a motor moving a transferring rod to move the guide bar; and a controller controlling the motor and also controlling the training conditions for the exercising person. The weight training method is a weight training method using the weight training apparatus, and is a method for training that includes a gradual weight mode in which a small amount of weight is used at the starting point of weight training, then the amount of weight is gradually increased as training progresses, and a selected amount of weight is used at the end point. According to this weight training apparatus and the weight training method using the same, a quick change in the amount of weight is made possible, the apparatus is made lighter and smaller, the measurement of calories expended during exercise and the amount of exercise is made easy, and training in a fixed weight mode and training in a gradually increasing weight mode is made possible.
