PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator of a magnetic particle capable of generating a magnetic field of various dimensions, by using several predetermined magnetic elements or magnets.SOLUTION: A nonuniform magnetic field generator having an internal space 1 for receiving an object for separating a magnetic particle is a device that has a support structure for the magnets and a plurality of magnets 3 positioned in the support structure, the magnets 3 having a polygonal shape having a plurality of side parts; and forms at least one ring 4 formed of the magnets 3 around the internal space 1 for generating a magnetic field in the internal space 1 such that the number of magnetic poles P becomes an even number larger than 2, the respective magnets 3 having a predetermined magnetization direction 5 in a cross section of a generator and the magnetization direction 5 of the magnets 3 being positioned so as to follow an angular advance of &Dgr;y=((P/2)+1)×&Dgr;&thetas; (in the cross section of the generator, &Dgr;y expresses a variation in the magnetization direction 5 between one magnet 3 and the next magnet 3, &Dgr;&thetas; expresses a variation in an angular position between the one magnet 3 and the next magnet 3, and the ring 4 includes the magnets 3 more than the number of magnetic poles P). |
