PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for storing new data to a nonvolatile semiconductor memory that is included in a hybrid HDD.SOLUTION: A hybrid HDD 100 includes a flash memory 109 and a magnetic disk 129. The hybrid HDD 100 operates either in a cache mode or in a memory mode. If a host device sets the cache mode, data received from the host device is written in the flash memory and magnetic disk 129. If the host device sets the memory mode, the data received from the host device is written in a region that is used in the cache mode in the flash memory without accessing the magnetic disk. For a read request from the host device in the memory mode, data is read from the flash memory and is output. |
