PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray diagnostic apparatus which automatically reduces radiation exposure to a portion to be subjected to which exposure reduction is requested.SOLUTION: The X-ray diagnostic apparatus includes: X-ray generation means; X-ray detection means; image generation means; display means; portion detecting means; and protection means. The X-ray generation means generates X-rays with which a subject is to be irradiated. The X-ray detection means detects X-rays with which the subject is irradiated. The image generation means generates an X-ray image on the basis of the detected X-rays. The display means displays the X-ray image. The portion detecting means detects a portion to be subjected to which exposure reduction is requested on the basis of the X-ray image. The protection means protects an area including the detected portion from the X-rays.
