PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide target object monitoring equipment capable of performing processing of detecting a target object such as a biological body while suppressing excessive increase of calculation load according to an image taken by an infrared camera.SOLUTION: Target object monitoring equipment comprises: means 32 for extracting an image of a type-discrimination target from a high-intensity region of an image taken by an infrared camera 11 to discriminate a type thereof; means 33 for extracting an image of the type-discrimination target from a low-intensity region of the taken image to discriminate a type thereof. At least one of the means 32, 33 is configured to perform type-discrimination processing in a region other than a region-part containing an image of a type-discrimination target whose type is already determined by the other of the means 32, 33.
