The embodiments of the present invention provide a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same. The liquid crystal display device comprises a color filter substrate and an array substrate which are provided to face each other; a liquid crystal cell including a liquid crystal material provided between the color filter substrate and the array substrate; a lower polarizing plate which is provided in the lower surface, namely, in the light input side of the liquid crystal cell; an upper polarizing plate which is provided in the upper surface, namely, in the light exit side of the liquid crystal cell; and a shading pattern layer which is provided on the upper polarizing plate, namely, on the light exit side of the upper polarizing plate and includes shading lines, wherein the color filter substrate has a black matrix and a color filter formed in the upper part thereof, and the array substrate has gate lines, data lines and a thin film transistor formed in the upper part thereof. |
