PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst exhibiting high activity and capable of reducing reaction time in a method of manufacturing polyorganosiloxane by condensing one or more kind of organic silicon compounds having a silanol group (-SiOH) and/or an alkoxysilyl group (-SiOR), and to provide the method of manufacturing polyorganosiloxane using the catalyst.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing polyorganosiloxane includes a step of a condensation reaction of one or more kind of organic silicon compounds having in a molecule at least one -OX group, where X is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or an alkoxyalkyl group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, in the presence of a catalyst (C), and the catalyst (C) is obtained by surface treating (C1) at least one kind selected from the group consisting of hydroxide of a group 2 element in the Periodic Table, a hydrate of hydroxide of the group 2 element in the Periodic Table, and oxide of the group 2 element in the Periodic Table with (C2) a silane coupling agent. |
