The method involves using digital image recording apparatus for imaging the hands. The hand recognition is performed by identifying and counting the fingers using the image captured by the digital image recording apparatus. A fixed amount of cleaning or disinfecting agent is supplied to the two hands, by recognizing the two spread hands positioned in cleaning space (2). An independent claim is included for automatic hand cleaning device.
