PURPOSE: A similarity image search system and method are provided to offer a result having various possibilities which are most near to a search image although there is no result of being completely matched with the search image and to enhance reliability of search. CONSTITUTION: A memory unit memorizes a name and a standard image of a search image. A processing unit produces similarity by the following step. First similarity is produced by comparing the search image with the standard image which is inputted from outside for a first search condition. The first similarity includes the standard image which is larger than a first standard value of the first search condition in a first correct answer group of the first search condition. Second similarity is produced by comparing the standard image with the search image for a second search condition. The second similarity includes the standard image which is larger than the first standard value of the second search condition in the first correct answer group of the second search condition. Third similarity is produced by comparing the standard image included in the first correct answer group of the first search condition with the search image through the second search condition. Fourth similarity is produced by comparing the standard image included in the first correct answer group of the second search condition with the search image through the first search condition.
