PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition device capable of easily notifying a user that a context correction is made on an input character string to prompt the user to give a correction instruction on the character string after the context correction if necessary.SOLUTION: A recognition character replacement determination section 23 determines whether a character string as a character recognition result is subjected to a context correction (replacement) by a context correction processing section 20. A first candidate periphery display processing section 24 displays a first candidate character string in the periphery (for example, immediately above) of the character string as the character recognition result. When the first candidate is selected, a recognition character correction section 22 corrects the character string after the context correction to the first candidate character string.
