PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a molten salt battery system which is a power supply device employing a molten salt battery as a secondary battery, in which energy efficiency as the entire system is heightened.SOLUTION: A molten salt battery system 200 is configured by an acting molten salt battery whose electrolyte is in a molten state and which is in an operative state as battery (a battery pack 100 of a battery unit U1) and a standby molten salt battery which is in a charged state and is standing by in a non-operative state (a battery pack 100 of a battery unit U2). When the acting molten salt battery reaches a prescribed state by being discharged (for example, when its remaining life drops below a threshold), a heating device for the standby molten salt battery is activated by using output of the acting molten salt battery and the standby molten salt battery is thereby placed into an operative state.
