The light source control device (1) has an interface unit (2) and a command-analyzing unit (3). The interface unit receives serially transmitted control commands, which comprise gradation data that defines, using multiple bits, the amount of light emitted by the light source for each of the multiple light sources. The command-analyzing unit generates, alternately with a regular cycle, a first signal to each of the multiple first signal wires to which the anodes of the respective light sources are connected, and generates a second signal to each of the multiple second signal wires to which the cathodes of the respective light sources are connected. The first signal sets a first period during which the light source that is connected to the given first signal wire can be turned on. The second signal sets a second period during the first period set for the first signal wire that is connected to the anode of the light source to which the given second signal wire is connected. The second period is a period during which the given light source can be turned on and is set according to the amount of emitted light represented by the gradation data that corresponds to the given light source and is contained in the control command.
|
