The vehicle pneumatic tire has a side wall (3), which is formed with a radial contour section between an upper side wall area (4) and a lower side wall area (5) inside the radially extending area of a protective element (8) in individual peripheral portions of the circumferential extending angle of the vehicle tire. The contour of the side wall area, which is offset radially inward to a ramp (16) followed by the contour of a second axially inwardly reentrant stage (14) corresponding to the contour of the ramp. The protective element is integrated in the contour of the upper side wall area.
