The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for detecting smoke. According to an aspect of the present invention, provided is the apparatus for detecting smoke to detect smoke gas passing through a ventilation pipe using a fan device, comprises: an inflow portion disposed on a downstream of the fan device and connected to the ventilation pipe for receiving an inflow of gas; a detecting portion for receiving a supply of the gas from the inflow portion and detecting the smoke received the supply thereof; a discharge portion coupled to the detecting portion to be disposed on the downstream thereof, generating a lower negative pressure than the pressure around inflow portion in the central region of the ventilation pipe, and discharging the gas from the detecting portion to the ventilation pipe. |
