1,094,625. Cutters. O.K. TOOL CO. Inc. Dec. 18, 1964 [Dec. 18, 1963], No. 42902/64. Headings B3B and B3K. A milling cutter or lathe tool bit 2 comprises two cutting edges 3, 4 disposed at an angle to each other and two sets of side serrations 23, 24 one extending transversely of an edge and the other extending obliquely to an edge. The serrations are engaged by serrated clamps 6, 7, each having a positioning screw engaging the bore of a slot in the cutter body and expanded by a conically headed screw 17, 18 screwing into the body. The clamps are also serrated to engage the side of the slot. Thus, the clamp 6 adjusts the bit radially and the other clamp adjusts it axially. In a modification, the clamps 26, 27, Fig. 5, are on opposite sides of the bit. In a further modification, the two sets of serrations on the bit 43, Fig. 6, are superposed and the clamps consist of an obliquely-slotted clamp 46 resting in a horizontally-slotted clamp 45. |
