An operator 24 for an electric limit switch comprises a housing mountable on an end of an enclosure containing the switch and having a cavity 70 and a pair of axially aligned bores 77, 79, a rotatable shaft 80 journalled in the bores, a pair of identical members 84, 85 non-rotatably mounted on shaft 80, a stop on each member engaging with a portion 87, 88 of the housing to limit the rotation of each member in one direction, a camming surface on each member to engage a movable plunger extending from the end of the enclosure and a resilient arrangement to resiliently maintain at least one of the members 84, 85 in the stop position. A double-ended actuating member (83) is mounted on the knurled end of shaft 80. The stops on members 84, 85 comprise flat edge surfaces (84s, 84t, 85s, 85t) and the camming surfaces comprise edges (84x, 85x). There may be a number of plungers (54) fitting in the appropriate holes (30-33) of the enclosure depending on whether operator 24 is mounted with member (83) facing the front, rear, or either side of the enclosure, the plungers bearing on a common plate (51) bearing on the actuator (50) of the switch (49), details of the switch not being given. The resilient arrangement comprises a compression spring around shaft 80 bearing on a retainer at each end for balls (95), which, when shaft 80 is rotated, ride over ridges (84f, 84g, 85f, 85g) to give a snap action and retain members 84, 85 in position. |
