PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video server which can perform a recovery from a power source failure adapted to the video server in the event of a power source failure. SOLUTION: A video server 10 includes a video storage unit 14 which consists of a nonvolatile semiconductor memory medium and stores video data input from outside, and a management information storage unit 15 which stores management information on the video data including an image division unit status representing a writing status of the video data stored in the video storage unit 14 for each image division unit. When the video server 10 is started up after a power source failure, the video server 10 determines whether the image division unit status shows under writing or not for each image division unit with reference to the management information storage unit 15. If the image division unit status is determined to be under writing, the server 10 updates the status of the image division unit to a write completion status, and erases data in a storage region into which data is written next to match the status.
