1,097,120. Ball and socket joints; loading ring. A. EHRENREICH & CIE. Dec. 12, 1966 [Dec. 14, 1965], No. 55494/66. Heading E2F. A ball joint, consisting of a ball pin having its head mounted in bearing pads in a housing, has an elastic material loading ring, between the pads, housing and housing cover, with at least one peripheral sealing lip on the face adjacent to the housing and cover. The ball housing 1 is open at the top and has an exit aperture 1a; the spherical head 2 of the ball pin is mounted therein in bearing pads 4 and 5, suitably made of a rigid synthetic material, e.g. acetal resin, nylon or polyamide. The exit aperture is closed by a sealing gaiter 6. The top opening of the housing is closed off by a cover 7 held in place by a circlip 8, and bearing on the loading ring 9, suitably of rubber or soft synthetic material. The ring has at least one sealing lip, which is diagonally orientated, and preferably two further lips separated from the first lip by annular grooves. The lips prevent escape of lubricant and ingress of dirt.
|
