[Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Substrates may be coated with a polyamide amide acid, suitably of the formula: wherein R is a tetravalent organic radical containing at least two carbon atoms, R<SP>1</SP> is a saturated or unsaturated C 1-40 straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R<SP>11</SP> is a divalent aromatic group, n is at least 2 and x is from 1 to 3, obtained by reacting at least one dianhydride of the formula: with an equimolar amount of a polyamidediamine of the formula: the coating may subsequently be cured to give the corresponding polyamide-imide of the formula: In the specific examples the following substrates are coated: aluminium, aluminium foil, glass, copper and copper wire.</p> |
